As part of its strategic initiative to accelerate the development of a high-level vocational university with a global outlook, Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University (SHZQU) officially launched the Asian Charm: Unity in Diversity Multicultural Exchange Festival on April 27. The opening ceremony, held in the Library Academic Hall, brought together university leadership, local officials, and international representatives to celebrate the institution's expanding global footprint.

During the ceremony, Deputy Party Secretary Zhu Fanxin emphasized the university’s commitment to international education. He noted that SHZQU has established stable partnerships with over 30 overseas institutions, facilitating international mobility for 524 Chinese students and welcoming 167 international students to the Shanghai campus. Zhu encouraged the student body to embrace this spirit of mutual learning to broaden their global perspectives while maintaining a firm sense of cultural confidence.

The event highlighted the personal impact of these international ties. Malaysian student Huang Xuefan shared his journey at SHZQU, describing the university’s inclusive environment as a catalyst for his personal and academic growth. His testimony was followed by a series of vibrant cultural performances, including the traditional-modern fusion dance 'Ji Ming Yue' and the spirited song 'Youth Without Limits', both of which illustrated the dynamic fusion of cultures on campus.

Beyond the formal ceremonies, the three-day Yihewan Life Season transformed the campus plaza into a lively carnival. This immersive experience allowed faculty and students to engage directly with global traditions in a festive, interactive atmosphere. The celebration continued on April 28 with a special Malaysian Cultural Seminar, where student representatives introduced their nation’s history and culinary heritage, using food as a bridge for cross-cultural dialogue.
By balancing the strategies of inviting in and going global, the Multicultural Exchange Festival showcased the university’s progress in fostering an open and diverse academic ecosystem. The event not only enriched the campus culture but also reaffirmed SHZQU’s role as a growing hub for international vocational education and cultural integration.
