Release Time:2026-03-03Views:10

As the first half of the first lunar month passes, the breath of spring quietly deepens.

Across the campus, the evening’s full moon seems already in the making.

On this festival where reunion and warmth intertwine,

let us step into a poetic world of Zhongqiao through the art of paper-cutting,

and between light and lantern glow,

savor the customs and memories of the Lantern Festival.

Origin of Latern Festival

The fifteenth day of the first lunar month marks the Lantern Festival. “Yuan” refers to the first lunar month, while “Xiao” means night, making it the first full-moon night of the year. As an important moment within the Spring Festival season, the Lantern Festival carries forward the joyful spirit of the New Year and also signals the beginning of a new rhythm of study and work.

Tracing its history, celebrations on this day date back to ancient times. Over the centuries, the custom of lantern viewing gradually became its most iconic tradition, accompanied by activities such as lantern riddles and folk performances. Countless lights illuminate hopes of reunion and express wishes for peace, prosperity, and good fortune, giving this “night of lanterns” both festive vibrancy and heartfelt warmth.

Under the full moon and gentle lantern light,

we celebrate this joyful festival together.

On the occasion of the Lantern Festival,

we extend our warmest wishes to all faculty members and students of Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University:

Happy Lantern Festival,

may your families be united and safe,

may your studies and careers flourish,

and may all your wishes in the new year come true.
