Against the backdrop of accelerating internationalization in vocational education, Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University has been actively serving the Belt and Road Initiative and steadily advancing international cooperation in vocational education. On April 10, the university’s proposed projects on the development of nursing professional standards and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) rehabilitation curriculum standards for Bangladesh were successfully pre-approved, marking a solid step forward in exporting vocational education standards.

The pre-approval meeting for the China–South and Southeast Asia Vocational Education International Cooperation Project (Bangladesh Technical Education Board) was held online. More than 40 participants attended the meeting, including officials from the Bangladesh Ministry of Education’s Technical Education Board, project evaluation experts, representatives of Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh, and representatives from vocational institutions in both China and Bangladesh, jointly witnessing this new milestone in cooperation. Representatives from Zhongqiao University included Vice President Dai Hongmei, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Wang Ling, and Cao Xuenan, Deputy Dean of the School of Nursing and Health. Delegates from the first cohort of China–Bangladesh partner institutions, including Chongqing Vocational College of Transportation, Shandong Polytechnic, and Hainan Vocational University of Science and Technology, also participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, the Bangladeshi side officially announced that the nursing professional standards and TCM rehabilitation curriculum standards proposed by Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University had been successfully pre-approved, and recognized the university as one of the first batch of China–Bangladesh partner institutions under the vocational education cooperation program.
In her remarks, Dai Hongmei noted that Zhongqiao University is supported by a solid educational foundation, a strong faculty team, and extensive experience in international education. Nursing and TCM rehabilitation, as key disciplines with distinctive strengths, feature well-established training facilities and mature curricula, demonstrating strong capacity for cross-border cooperation. The development of the nursing professional standards and TCM rehabilitation curriculum standards will be undertaken by the university’s School of Nursing and Health, a key unit in its academic development.
The successful pre-approval of the Bangladesh nursing standards project represents an important step in bringing the university’s vocational education standard development onto the international stage, and serves as a vivid example of deepening resource sharing and collaborative development in China–Bangladesh vocational education. Looking ahead, the university will fully leverage its strengths in international standard development and program construction, align closely with Bangladesh’s technical education needs, and advance the development of nursing and TCM rehabilitation standards to a high standard. With strengthened coordination and process management, Zhongqiao aims to ensure high-quality project implementation and to create exemplary outcomes in cross-border vocational education cooperation, contributing further to the global development of vocational education.
