Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission officially announced the list of selected candidates for the 2025 “Minjiang Plan” for private universities in Shanghai. The project titled “Deepening the Integration of Craftsmanship and Innovation in the Education System of Synthetic Biotechnology and Promoting the Transformation of Its Outcomes,” led by Wei Yongzhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of the Zhongqiao–Helsinki School of Future Engineering at Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University, has been successfully selected. This recognition highlights the university’s solid foundation and ongoing exploration in program development and innovation in talent cultivation models.

Mr. Wei Yongzhong has long been deeply engaged in frontline vocational education, combining strong professional expertise with extensive experience in talent cultivation. As a senior “dual-qualified” teacher in Shanghai’s vocational education system and a core member of the 2024 national-level Master Teacher (Master Craftsman) Team, he holds multiple professional skill certificates, including Senior Public Nutritionist and Senior Nutrition Catering Specialist. He has also been recognized as a Think Tank Expert of the SCO Youth Entrepreneurship Exchange Base and an Outstanding Contributor to the university’s “Three-All Education” initiative.
In teaching practice, Mr. Wei advocates the philosophy of “promoting teaching through competitions and cultivating craftsmanship through innovation.” In 2024 alone, he guided students to win more than 20 national and provincial A-category competition awards, including a Bronze Medal in the National Finals of the “Challenge Cup” and a Gold Award in the Shanghai Division of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition. He has also incubated several high-quality student innovation projects with both technological originality and strong market application potential, such as “Yixiantie – A Context-Specific Freshness-Preservation Solution for Fruits and Vegetables in China.”
