On December 30, a dynamic English teaching and communication workshop was successfully held at our university. The event consisted of two parallel sessions—a student workshop and a faculty workshop—and featured Sreyan, Head of Communication Intelligence Labs (CIL), who joined teachers and students to explore effective strategies for improving spoken English and innovative approaches to language teaching.

Prior to the workshop, all participating students completed an oral proficiency assessment on the CIL platform. Based on their language performance, students were scientifically grouped into Level A and Level B, laying a solid foundation for differentiated and personalized instruction.

Practical Tips for Spoken English

With a clear, engaging delivery and highly practical methods, Sreyan systematically introduced effective strategies for improving spoken English and demonstrated how to use the CIL platform for targeted speaking practice.

Students then took part in an intensive “30-second impromptu storytelling” exercise, focusing on reducing the overuse of filler words such as “eh” and “uh,” while strengthening fluency, coherence, and logical organization in speech.

🎯 Focusing on Real Teaching Challenges

Teachers engaged in discussions around common classroom dilemmas, such as how to balance speaking fluency with grammatical accuracy during instruction.

❓ From Student Questions to Pedagogical Reflection

In response to student concerns raised during the workshop—such as whether restructuring answers might lead to going off-topic and losing points—faculty members conducted in-depth discussions and reflections.

📊 The CIL Platform: From Data to the Classroom

Sreyan provided a detailed introduction to CIL’s backend data analysis system, prompting discussions on how data-driven insights, combined with an “AI + human” approach, ensure accuracy and effectiveness in teaching and assessment.

Using the CIL intelligent platform as a bridge, the workshop formed a complete learning loop: beginning with student assessment, moving through leveled speaking practice, and culminating in teaching-focused discussion. The International Education College will continue to organize in-depth professional development activities that integrate technology with teaching practice, effectively supporting the systematic improvement of students’ overall English proficiency and creating broader platforms for shared growth among faculty and students.
