Release Time:2025-03-05Views:38

To inspire the youth's strong interest in AI and its applications, and to help them explore the mysteries of cutting-edge technology, the “Youth AI Exploration and Application Practice” course was successfully held on the morning of March 2, 2025, at Building 35, Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University's Low Altitude Economy Innovation Lab. The course attracted many students who are passionate about cutting-edge technology.

01 Knowledge Explanation: Analyzing Drone Types

At the beginning of the course, Lecturer Qi Fuli, the Director of the UAV Major at the School of Information Engineering, introduced the topic in a lively and easy-to-understand manner, starting with the question, “What is a drone?” Lecturer Qi provided a detailed explanation of the different types of drones, such as fixed-wing drones that rely on wings to generate lift in the air, unmanned helicopters that achieve vertical takeoff and landing through the high-speed rotation of propellers, and multi-rotor drones that ensure flight stability through the coordination of multiple rotors. He also analyzed the unique features, significant advantages, and limitations of each type of drone.

02 Field Expansion: Exploring Drone Applications

Next, Lecturer Qi expanded on the broad applications of drones across various fields. From emergency rescue operations and anti-terrorism work in public security to land surveillance, drones play an essential role in efficiently patrolling and protecting every inch of the country's land. Through vivid case studies, students deeply understood the close connection between drones and daily life, realizing how this technology has quietly integrated into many aspects of societal operations.

03 Practical Session: AI and Drone Programming

After the theoretical knowledge session, the course proceeded to the much-anticipated practical exercises. Lecturer Qi led the students into the fascinating world of AI and drone technology integration. During the programming session, volunteers patiently guided the students as they focused on operating computers and transforming lines of code into instructions that drones could understand and execute. The volunteers then led the students on a tour of various drone models, with each one leaving the students in awe. Volunteers provided detailed introductions to the unique features and application scenarios of each drone, and the students were eager to stop and observe, frequently expressing their amazement.

04 Flight Observation: Experiencing Drone Operation

Finally, Lecturer Qi led the students to observe drone flight practice and closely examine a drone launch site. In the open outdoor area, Lecturer Qi skillfully operated the drone, which smoothly ascended into the air, performing a series of impressive flight maneuvers that drew cheers from the students. Following this, the students were invited to approach the drone launch site, where they attentively listened to Lecturer Qi's explanations and actively asked questions, gaining a more intuitive understanding of the daily operation and maintenance of drones.

05 Summary and Outlook: Experiencing the Charm of Technology and Looking to the Future

This AI and drone application practice course not only opened a door for students to the world of cutting-edge technology, but also allowed them to deeply experience the unlimited charm and powerful potential of technological innovation through both theoretical learning and practical operations. It is believed that in the future, these passionate and creative students will continue to explore and innovate in the AI and drone fields, contributing their wisdom and efforts to advancing technological progress.
