On October 17, 2024, Zhongqiao University held an Internationalization Strategy Promotion Meeting in Room 206 of the International Education Center on the second floor of the Information Building. The meeting was attended by university leaders, department heads, deans, secretaries and foreign affairs specialists of schools. The meeting was hosted by Wang Ling, Deputy Director of the International Department.

The meeting commenced with a presentation by Yan Hui, Assistant to the President and Director of the International Department, who provided an overview of the International Department. The establishment of the International Department is a significant initiative in the university's process of internationalization. The department is committed to supporting the university’s international work, fostering an international atmosphere on campus, creating more and better platforms for international exchange, and meeting the developmental needs of faculty and students.

Sheng Yumeng, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office, presented an analysis of the university's overseas study participation over the past two years, including data on student departures. As the internationalization process progresses, the number of students going abroad has significantly increased. She emphasized that given the current challenging employment landscape, there is a growing demand for students to enhance their qualifications abroad, urging all schools to actively participate in promoting and managing internationalization efforts. Meanwhile, the International Department will continue to improve its global cooperation network and enhance students' foreign language skills to provide a comprehensive support platform for students pursuing overseas studies.

Feng Yuqiang, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education, shared recent practical achievements of Zhongqiao University in attracting overseas students for exchanges. He noted that the university is actively promoting academic exchange with students from various countries through short-term projects and semester exchanges. He also outlined the university’s plans regarding credit recognition, faculty development, and future teaching management.

Li Mei, Deputy Director of the International Department and Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, elaborated on the university's exploration and innovation in foreign language education from the perspective of public foreign language teaching reform. She highlighted that the university not only integrates the CET-4 examination model into daily teaching but also actively introduces external resources to strengthen the faculty.

The meeting concluded with remarks from Professor Huo Jiazhen, the university president, who reviewed the accomplishments the university has made in the internationalization sphere over recent years. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to becoming a modern vocational and technical university that is leading in China and internationally renowned. He emphasized that in the future, Zhongqiao will vigorously develop the Sino-German cooperative teacher training base, create a service platform for enterprises going abroad, and build vocational undergraduate programs and characteristic professional groups as high peaks, as well as a talent cultivation base combining "foreign languages + technical skills." Through a series of initiatives, the university aims to create an internationally influential vocational education system, the "Zhongqiao Model," to better support the university’s high-level and distinctive educational progress.

The successful hosting of this meeting not only marks a new developmental stage in Zhongqiao University's international education but also injects strong momentum into the university's future internationalization process, helping Zhongqiao University cultivate more high-quality talents with international perspectives and competitiveness.
