President Huo Jiazhen Visited German Vocational and Technical Universities

To further deepen the internationalization development strategy and accelerate the high-quality development of international cooperation of Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University, president Huo Jiazhen visited Germany in mid-December. He held discussions and exchanges with Berlin Mediadesign Hochschule MD.H, Fachhochschule Dresden, and Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University(DHBW) on topics such as talent cultivation and Sino-German vocational education teacher training cooperation. He also conducted in-depth visits and research at various laboratories.

 

President Huo held talks with Christian Maltere, president of Berlin Mediadesign Hochschule MD.H, and Martin Adam, the Executive Director and Legal Representative. All majors of the university have obtained international certification from the German Higher Education Accreditation Agency (ZEvA). As one of the earliest universities in Germany to propose and implement cross-border and diversified education, its interdisciplinary and cross-media research results in talent cultivation and interactive cooperation between schools and enterprises provide reference for the implementation of dual-system education at Zhongqiao University. Both sides had extensive discussions on their respective talent development, speciality, potential areas of collaboration, and student exchange programs. After the meeting, they visited the campus' culture construction, core major layout, student development and enterprise network.

 


During the visit to Fachhochschule Dresden, President Huo Jiazhen held talks with Professor Scholtz(President of Fachhochschule Dresden, Chairman of the Board of Directors) and Professor Volker Leipnitz(Chairman of the Research Institute of Fachhochschule Dresden. And then they visited the modern teaching facilities and the cooperative College. President Huo had a deep understanding of the major details, training plans, dual-system teaching, industry collaboration, and academic achievements. Both parties have had extensive exchanges and reached consensus on school development strategies, construction achievements, and cooperative projects. They have signed a cooperation framework agreement, involving deepening cooperation in multiple collaborative projects such as nursing, design, and business management majors between the two schools. This provides students with diverse international learning opportunities and better meets the needs of future economic and social development.

 


During the visit to Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, meetings were held with Gerhard Jaeger, president of the Loerrach Campus, and Johannes Kern, Vice president. On the basis of reviewing past cooperation, both sides have thoroughly discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of conducting Sino-German teacher training programs, organizing academic seminars, scholar exchanges, and joint student training, and have reached a consensus. Both sides expressed their commitment to further advancing the work as soon as possible in order to promote substantive implementation of cooperation projects such as Sino-German teacher training programs between the two schools.

 


This visit consolidated and enhanced the friendly relations with important partners in Germany, promoted the exchanges between the University of China and German Vocational and technical universities, and built a platform for the teachers and students of the University of China. It is an important step for the university to implement the strategy of promoting internationalization and actively explore international partnerships. It is of great significance to move towards a leading and internationally renowned modern vocational and technical university in China.
