Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University Holds All-Cadres Meeting: Cao Yuping Appointed as President

On the morning of January 16, Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University held an all-cadres meeting in the lecture hall of the Information Building to announce the university's leadership restructuring decision. The meeting was attended by Chairman Yan Jianjun of Zeta Group, Executive President Zhou Sheng of the Group, the university's leadership team, and all cadres. The meeting was chaired by the Party Secretary of the university, Ping Jie.


At the meeting, Zhou Sheng, Executive President of Zeta Group, announced the decision to adjust the university's leadership team. Due to the expiration of President Huo Jiazhen's term and his personal reasons, he will no longer serve as president at Zhongqiao University. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution of Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University, and following deliberations by the Group and the university's Board, Professor Cao Yuping has been appointed as the new president, fully responsible for the university's operations and development. On behalf of the Board and all faculty and students, Zhou Sheng welcomed President Cao Yuping and provided an overview of his career achievements.



President Cao Yuping expressed his gratitude for the trust and support of the Group leadership and the University Board, emphasizing the significant responsibility of his new role. He highlighted three key priorities for the future development of the university: First, to unify purpose and foster spirit by adhering to the principles of higher vocational education, aligning with Zeta Group's strategy of “revitalizing the nation through education, fostering morality and talent, and serving the country through industry,” while deepening educational reform and talent cultivation to nurture high-caliber talent with a strong sense of national responsibility. Second, to achieve innovation through inheritance by balancing tradition and creativity, striving for breakthroughs, and advancing high-quality development. Third, to leverage Shanghai's strengths in industry, talent, and collaboration, furthering industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation while innovating university-city collaborative development models, aiming to transform the university into a highly regarded institution that satisfies students, reassures parents, attracts enterprises, and makes alumni proud.


Chairman Yan Jianjun of Zeta Group delivered a speech highly commending the university's achievements in recent years in areas such as Party-building, education, research innovation, and talent cultivation. He also recognized the contributions of former President Huo Jiazhen to the university's development, noting that these successes reflect the collective efforts of all faculty and staff as well as the unity and hard work of the leadership team. Chairman Yan outlined “five hopes” for the university's next phase of development and emphasized that the university is now at a new starting point.He called on the leadership team to remain united, innovative, and forward-thinking, and expressed high expectations for President Cao's leadership in furthering the university's internal development and advancing its high-quality education goals. He reiterated the Group's unwavering support for the university's development and its mission to achieve excellence.


The meeting also included planning for tasks to be completed before the winter break. Party Secretary Ping Jie emphasized the need for all departments to conduct comprehensive safety inspections, strengthen duty and on-site leadership during the holidays, and ensure campus safety and stability. He urged middle-level cadres to study and disseminate the meeting's spirit to all faculty and staff, fostering collaboration toward higher-quality development for the university.

The meeting concluded with a call for the entire university community to adopt an energized stance, steadfastly implementing Xi Jinping's New Era Thought and adhering to the direction of Chinese modernization in education. Participants were encouraged to actively pursue vocational undergraduate pilot programs, continuously improve teaching quality and institutional standards, and work together to achieve the university’s development goals. The university is determined to create a high-level vocational undergraduate institution and to write a new chapter in its development.
