On September 20th, 2024, the Anhui and Shanghai Division Provincial Competition of the 2024 BRICS Skills Competition - Financial Technology Application Event (BRICS-FS-25) was successfully held. This competition brought together 18 universities, including Shanghai Polytechnic University, Shanghai Lida University, and Shanghai Techinial Institute of Electronic and Information. After intense competition, two teams guided by teachers Huang Kanmei and Huang Xin from the School of Economics and Management of university, majoring in Financial Technology Application, won third prize. Both teams are from the 2022 cohort of the Financial Technology Application major.The first team consists of four students: Ge Jiajun, Zhu Caiyuan, Shen Lingjie, and Shi Yufei. The second team is composed of four students: Cao Ruiyang, Yu Haoting, Yin Yue, and Yuan Kaifan.

The BRICS Skills Competition aims to implement the spirit of the initiative put forward by Xi Jinping at the BRICS Summit and to build a platform for exchange and cooperation among vocational colleges and enterprises in the five BRICS countries.
The fintech application event in this competition selected relevant application scenarios and technical key points in the field of fintech, providing contestants with a meaningful, in-depth, and comprehensive platform for learning and practice. The competition consisted of three modules: Basic Knowledge of Fintech, Business Processing of Fintech, and Comprehensive Practical Application of Fintech. The competition tested various skills, including Financial information technology, building blockchain chains, and writing smart contracts.Fintech risk control; Writing digital marketing plans, planning, and implementing activities; Application of digital RMB wallets in scenarios such as opening, exchange, payment, and promotion; The abilities to conduct market surveys, expand customers, customize insurance and financial planning, and promote and sell insurance products; and the underwriting and claims settlement abilities such as risk identification and assessment, loss analysis and verification, and claims investigation.

The fintech application competition is not only an important way to train students' financial skills but also a test of their teamwork and ability to tackle complex problems. This award recognizes the hard work and research efforts of students from the School of Economics and Management at our university. It has also inspired students' interest and enthusiasm for fintech while improving their knowledge base and practical skills. We hope the students will continue their efforts, achieve even better results, and earn more honors in future BRICS Skills Competitions.
