From October 28 to 31, 2024, the First National College Tug-of-War Championship, hosted by the China Student Sports Federation, was held at Changchun University of Technology. Over four intense days, 325 athletes from 20 universities across the nation competed in this event, which included 120 matches across three weight classes: Men’s 640kg, Women’s 500kg, and Mixed 580kg. Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University's tug-of-war team excelled with outstanding teamwork and resilience, ultimately clinching the championship titles in both the Men’s 640kg and Mixed 580kg divisions in Group B.
The atmosphere at the championship was electric. With the highly competitive environment, our university’s athletes stood out, embodying the spirit of collaboration and determination. Match by match, they showcased not only their formidable strength but also their strategic prowess, translating their hard work and unity into victories.
Facing intense competition from strong teams nationwide, our athletes demonstrated their fearless fighting spirit and team cohesion. In the Men’s 640kg division, the team’s well-coordinated tactics and robust capabilities led them to secure the championship title. Similarly, in the Mixed 580kg division, they performed exceptionally well, bringing home another championship and great honor for the university.
Behind these achievements lies a story of relentless dedication. Our tug-of-war team members devoted countless hours to training, sacrificing personal time, enduring setbacks, and continuously building strength and team unity. Their victory is not only a triumph for the university but also a testament to the spirit of today’s college students—brave, collaborative, and unyielding.
As a new addition to the China Student Sports Federation’s demonstration events, competitive tug-of-war has marked a milestone in the sport’s expansion across universities nationwide. Our team’s victory in this championship showcases both their remarkable skills and the university’s dedication to fostering a vibrant athletic culture and campus spirit.
