On May 22, the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University invited Dr. Michael Fritz, the Director of tekom Europe and CEO of tcworld GmbH, to deliver a lecture titled “The Information Flow Model.” The event was a great success, with Yan Hui, Dean the School of International Education and Dean Li Mei of the School of Foreign Languages attending the lecture.
The lecture was delivered in English, opened the door to the world of technical communication through three main aspects: the concept of technical communication, its history, and the development models in European countries. Dr. Fritz began with the question, "What is information?" guiding the audiences to gradually explore technical communication. He provided a summary of the core concepts of technical communication and used the information flow model to vividly illustrate how technical communication ensures the precise delivery of technical knowledge to target audiences, thereby optimizing user experience. He led students through the historical development of technical communication, understanding the iteration and innovation of its methods and means. Finally, Dr. Fritz introduced the development models of technical communication in European countries. He pointed out that European countries have rich experience and unique development models in the field of technical communication. Especially in the era of the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, European countries have promoted innovative development in the technical communication industry through the dissemination of intelligent information.
During the interactive session, teachers and students eagerly asked questions and engaged in lively discussions with Dr. Fritz on topics such as future trends in the technical communication industry and the role of integration in the information flow of technical communication. Dr. Fritz patiently answered the questions, sharing his unique insights and encouraging students to actively pursue careers in technical communication.
The lecture concluded with enthusiastic applause. Dr. Fritz's wonderful presentation pointed the way for students who are about to enter this field. He earnestly hoped that students would seize the wave of technological development, bravely explore the unknown, and shine in the field of technical communication.
