Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University and Curtin University, Australia Held seminar on cooperation and exchange

On the afternoon of July 13, 2023, Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University and Curtin University held a cooperation and exchange seminar. Huo Jiazhen, President of Zhongqiao University, Yan Hui, Dean of School of International Education, Wang Ling, Director of International Exchange Office, Curtin University Global Associate Vice President Professor Zhang Xiaotian, Global Partnerships Manager Guy Harris, and Global Partnerships Senior Advisor Grace Ang attended the conference.



Huo Jiazhen, President of Zhongqiao University, and Zhang Xiaotian, Vice president of Curtin University, respectively made a detailed introduction on the running of their respective schools, professional advantages, development strategies and other aspects, and then the two sides carried out a warm discussion on the further cooperation content of the two schools. President Huo proposed that after completing three years of junior college studies, students at the junior college level of the University of China can continue to study for one year at Zhongqiao University which has cooperative project with Curtin University, and then study for one year at Curtin University in Australia, so as to help students complete the upgrading mode of 3 years (domestic) +1 year (foreign). After completing four years of undergraduate study, students will continue to study for one year of Sino-Australian cooperative courses in our university, and then study for one year of master courses in Curtin University, Australia. Students will be helped to complete their postgraduate studies in the mode of 4 years (domestic) +1 year (foreign). The cooperative courses are recognized by both parties and the teaching staff is jointly undertaken by both parties. This model can greatly save the time cost and economic cost of students studying abroad. Mr. Zhang Xiaotian, Vice President of Curtin University in Australia, responded that the first group of students from the Zhongqiao University will arrive at Curtin University on the 23rd of this month, which has played a good role in laying the foundation for further cooperation and exchanges between the two sides. Curtin University is very willing to carry out long-term cooperation with Zhongqiao, and will fully support the new model of Sino-Australian cooperation in education proposed by President Huo. In the next step, the two universities will further discuss and determine the core cooperation contents such as the majors, curriculum Settings and faculty allocation that can be opened. The two universities have reached a consensus and are committed to establishing a China-Australia cooperative curriculum and research center in China and Australia, which will build a platform for the cooperation between the two sides in curriculum, faculty, scientific research and other aspects. Zhongqiao University will undertake the whole process of operation and management of Sino-Australian cooperative courses, and the International Exchange Office will provide service support for students. Finally, the two sides agreed to hold an offline seminar in October 2023, and President Huo also sincerely invited the Australian president to attend the 30th anniversary celebration of the University.
